On the morning of 20 July, the Cuban Ambassador to Cyprus, Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero, handed over to Jorge Fernandez, director of the National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba, the work donated by the renowned Cypriot painter Panikkos Panagi Hadjidakis.
The painter Panikkos Panagi Hadjidakis was born in 1965 in Famagusta with origins in Chania, Crete. He has presented 10 solo exhibitions and 70 group exhibitions in numerous countries from America to Asia, Europe, Australia, Scandinavia in museums, embassies, galleries and other cultural venues. Winner of the Biennale Prize (1600 years of Venice) 2021, Biennale Pescara Conferimento Prize 2021, Belgrade Biennale 2021 as Artist of Honour of the Biennale, Biennale Milano Premio Attestato di Merito, Triennale Roma 2022 figurative 1st Prize Artistic Merit. He has been awarded the Master Artist award in 2017 Australia, in 2021 with the modigliani prize in Italy, the Premio Caravvagio master artist award. He was awarded at the International Critical Art Awards in Venice with the Golden Lion of San Marco in Venice and in the same year by the UN Writers Capital Foundation with the World Fine Arts Award for his contribution to art and culture. He has also created 3 Collections of historical works, Alexander the Great, Greek Culture and the Greek Alliance, Hadjidakis Collection 1821 the Greek Revolution, Medieval and Religious History of the World and Cyprus.
This donation contributes to the efforts of the Cuban Embassy in Cyprus to strengthen cultural relations between Cypriot artists and Cuba.
