Nicosia, Cyprus, June 12, 2026. The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, attended on Thursday, June 11, the reception offered by H.E. Dr Murat Ziazikov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in this capital, on the occasion of Russia's National Day, celebrated this June 12.
At the official ceremony, H.E. Dr Murat Ziazikov highlighted the transcendental importance of the celebration and the unquestionable value that this date holds, since the proclamation of their national sovereignty and the recognition of the struggles of that nation in favor of peace, well-being, and the development of its citizens. The reception took place in the presence of a sizeable representation of the attending diplomatic corps, along with Cypriot friends and members of the Russian community residing on the Mediterranean island.
The Cuban diplomat extended his warm congratulations to the Russian ambassador, to his people, and to the government of the Russian nation on the date that marked the beginning of a new stage toward the building of a modern federation, continuing the millennial course undertaken by that great Eurasian nation.
The meeting took place at the diplomatic mission of the Russian Federation in Nicosia, where Pino Martínez reiterated to his host counterpart the expressions of mutual respect, gratitude, and friendship reaffirmed by the authorities of both nations during the latest bilateral meetings held during days of intense work in Moscow and St Petersburg.
It was another timely moment for the Caribbean diplomat to reiterate Russia's traditional and historical solidarity and support for #Cuba, particularly in the face of the condemnation of the blockade and the energy restrictions imposed on the island; while also reaffirming their willingness to continue working closely together for the comprehensive and lasting development of bilateral relations.
