Nicosia, Cyprus, January 13, 2026. The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, held a fraternal meeting this Tuesday with Doctor Estela Niocolau, a member of the Cyprus-Cuba Friendship Association.
“It is always a pleasure to receive Cuban friends at home, and even more so when we feel – in difficult times – that fraternal embrace of solidarity and companionship towards the largest of the Antilles,” diplomat Pino Martínez told the Cuban friend upon welcoming her to the headquarters of the island mission in Nicosia.
“Know that we feel your presence, that your closeness and constant interest in the present and future of our homeland make Cuba feel stronger and responsibly accompanied, thanks to all your support and encouragement from this island in the eastern Mediterranean,” commented the Cuban ambassador.
It was, without a doubt, a dialogue 'translated' into terms and verbs of commitment, closeness, and solidarity with Cuba and its millions of compatriots who today defend and strive to safeguard every inch of that land baptized with our four letters; the same ones that today reaffirm its banner of the lone star and that the Matanzas poet Bonifacio Byrne immortalized in his recurring and more relevant than ever final stanza of 'My Flag.'
'For Cuba, we will always have something to do,' declared the Cypriot as a sort of early 'wink' in these days of #HonorYGloria that our State and government will pay as a posthumous tribute to the Cuban combatants fallen in the line of duty in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
In these times of military aggressions and imperialist arrogance, of barbaric kidnappings turned into acts of state terrorism against our sister Latin American nation, carried out by the same government that today imposes a brutal and genocidal blockade against Cuba for more than 60 years —as a logic of domination and disruption of our peace, which the neighbors from the north now seek to eternalize in our #AmericaLatinaZonaDePaz—, the warm and sincere embrace from Estela Nicolau, meaning from all Cypriot friends, touches our hearts and is truly appreciated.
