CUBAN AMBASSADOR HIGHLIGHTS IMPACT OF US BLOCKADE AND 65 YEARS OF CUBA-CYPRUS RELATIONS

Nicosia, Cyprus - In an exclusive interview to the journalist Chris Maykel, for the weekly political newspaper GNOMI, H.E. Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Cyprus, addressed several important issues concerning Cuba-Cyprus relations and the continuing effects of the US blockade against Cuba.

The Ambassador emphasized that the new economic exclusion measures imposed by the Trump administration will not break the spirit of the Cuban people. He highlighted how the American blockade continues to affect the daily lives of ordinary citizens and condemned the ongoing campaign targeting Cuban Medical Brigades around the world.

"Cuba has escaped from the harsh bonds of dependency," stated Ambassador Suarez, underlining that despite having a normal commercial relations with the United States, Cuba continues to resist. He expressed gratitude for the international solidarity shown by Cyprus and nations worldwide.

The interview coincides with the celebration of the 65th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Cuba and Cyprus. Since their establishment in 1960, these relations have been characterized by dialogue, cooperation, and mutual solidarity between the two nations. The Ambassador announced an upcoming cultural program to commemorate this important milestone in bilateral relations, designed to showcase the rich cultural exchange between both countries over the decades (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
