Cuban Ambassador holds constructive meeting with new President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Cyprus

The Cuban Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus, H.E. Mr. Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero, held a constructive meeting with the President of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Stavros Stavrou at the premises of the Chamber.

During the fraternal meeting, the Ambassador explained to Mr. Stavrou the economic difficulties Cuba is going through due to the unjust and inhuman blockade imposed by the United States for more than 60 years and how this affects Cuba's business expansion opportunities. On the other hand, due to the antidote law of the European Union, there are good commercial relations with several countries of the European Union and opportunities for Cypriot businessmen. The Ambassador also delivered an official invitation from the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba, Antonio Carricarte to Mr. Stavrou to attend the 40th edition of the Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2024) to be held from November 5 to 9 of the current year, at the EXPOCUBA fairgrounds.

In addition, the productive meeting discussed future ideas for collaboration and cooperation between the two islands. Also present at the meeting were the Secretary General of the Chamber, Mr. Marios Tsiakkis and Ms. Lily Michaelides, Officer of the Department of International Relations and Economic Diplomacy (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
