Canberra, August 7, 2019. - The Minister of Commerce, Tourism and Investment of Australia, Mr. Simon Birgminghan, received in a courtesy meeting the Cuban Ambassador in that country, Ariel Lorenzo Rodríguez.
During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat conveyed the interest of continue working for the strengthening of economic, commercial and investment relations, as well as exposing the potential that exists to develop bilateral ties in the biotechnology, mining, medical/pharmaceutical industry, education and tourism sectors. Likewise, he commented on the activities that will be carried out to celebrate the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries this year.
Minister Birmingham, for his part, expressed willingness to work for the expansion of trade and investment links between the two nations, highlighting the strength of our country in the field of health and education, and the attractiveness of Cuba as a destiny for Australian tourists. The Cuban Ambassador took the opportunity to deliver an invitation letter to Minister Birmingham from the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba, Rodrigo Malmierca, to participate in the International Fair of Havana "FIHAV 2019", which will be celebrated from November 4 to 8.
