Cuban Ambassador interviewed by Prensa Latina and SABC News

Pretoria, May 8, 2024.- In the framework of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and South Africa, the Cuban Ambassador to Pretoria, Enrique Orta González, was interviewed by different media outlets, including Prensa Latina and SABC News.

In both, the Ambassador highlighted the excellent state of ties between Havana and Pretoria, as well as the will to continue strengthening them, especially economic and cooperation relations. He stressed that the establishment of ties took place during the visit to South Africa of the historic leader of the Cuban revolution, Fidel Castro, in 1994, to participate in the inauguration of the newly elected President Nelson Mandela.

In conversation with Khayelile Khumalo, a journalist from the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC News), the ambassador referred to the close friendship between the leaders of the two nations, Fidel Castro and Nelson Mandela, as one of the elements that have most marked bilateral relations, a friendship sealed in the common struggle and which remained unbreakable, because the admiration between them was always mutual.

He was also interviewed on the radio programme Power Perspective, broadcast by Power FM, where he acknowledged that cooperation in the health sector has been the flagship of the bilateral partnership between the two peoples.
