Dublin, Ireland, November 27, 2022. The Cuban Ambassador to Ireland, Bernardo Guanche Hernández, visited last Thursday, November 24, the University College of Dublin, UCD (University College of Dublin), for its acronym in English, one of the the largest and most prestigious in the country, where he was received by Mrs. Eve Brosseau, Associate Director of Global Relations and Partnerships, as well as by other directors of the campus.
Based on the interest in promoting bilateral collaboration, both parties referred to the Cooperation Memorandum between the Government of the Republic of Cuba and the Government of Ireland, signed in February 2017, within the framework of the visit of the President, Michael D. Higgins, to Cuba, in February 2017. This important agreement provides for the promotion of relations in different fields, including scientific-technical and the exploration of opportunities for cooperation in mutually advantageous conditions, as well as contacts between universities and research institutions of both countries.
In this sense, the possible synergies between the UCD and Cuban research institutes and universities were reviewed. It also included an exchange with important directors of the University, linked to the Faculty of Molecular and Environmental Sciences; to the MSc programs in Biotechnology and Business; Biotherapeutics and a visit to the "BiOrbit" Research Center and the School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science. The ambassador was accompanied the entire time by officials from the International Relations Office of the UCD itself.
At the end of the visit, the Ambassador thanked the university authorities for the program prepared for the occasion and the high scientific and professional level of the participants by the UCD.
