Cuban Ambassador meets with Limassol Mayor

Nicosia, Cyprus - The Mayor of Limassol, Mr. Yiannis Armeutis, received the Cuban Ambassador to Cyprus, Mr. Angel Gustavo Suárez Cordero, in a constructive meeting where topics of common interest were discussed. 

Particular emphasis was placed on cooperation to promote culture, as well as organizing cultural events that will strengthen ties between the two countries. 

In this context, the organization of the exhibition of artworks by the distinguished Cuban artist Yohy Suárez, which will be held at the Limassol Municipal University Library, was also discussed. The artist, who had experienced the Limassian Carnival up close in 2020, returns to our city this year to present his works, inspired by both modern carnival events and their long history.

During the meeting, the possibilities for signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the municipalities of Limassol and Santiago de Cuba were also explored, as both cities share the rich tradition of carnivals (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
