Roseau, Dominica – January 30, 2026 – On Thursday, January 29, at the Cuban Embassy in Dominica, Ambassador Miguel Fraga held a fraternal exchange with members of the Solidarity Group with Cuba and the Association of Graduates in Cuba.
During the meeting, the Ambassador provided an update on the current situation in Cuba, addressing the main economic and political challenges facing the country. In this context, he examined the impact of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed against Cuba and its effects on the population, as part of a criminal and genocidal policy aimed at generating economic suffocation and international isolation.
The meeting also highlighted the depth of bilateral ties in the field of education. Young people from Dominica began studying in Cuba in 1979, and since then more than 400 students have graduated from Cuban universities, including more than 120 in medicine, contributing significantly to the health system and national development of the Commonwealth.
The participants agreed on the importance of continuing to strengthen spaces for solidarity and cooperation, especially in the context of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Dominica and Cuba, as well as the centenary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, events that they propose to commemorate by reaffirming the validity of the historical ties between both nations.
The exchange ratified the common commitment to the defense of sovereignty, solidarity and cooperation, and the continuity of a bilateral relationship based on respect and friendship.
