Cuban Ambassador meets with Senator David Shoebridge

Canberra, 6 May 2026. The Cuban Ambassador to Australia, Gilma Moreira Lino, met with David Shoebridge, a Green Party senator representing the state of New South Wales, who is responsible for foreign affairs, among other issues.

During the meeting, the ambassador explained the situation facing our people in light of the intensification of the U.S. blockade, the direct impact of the fuel blockade, and the coercive measures recently imposed in a new Executive Order by the U.S. president, which represents an extraordinary escalation in the aggression against Cuba.

Senator Shoebridge expressed his solidarity with Cuba, stating that the world should unite against the blockade.

The two officials also discussed other issues of mutual interest in the parliamentary sphere, with a view to further strengthening relations between Cuba and Australia.
