Cuban Ambassador to Mongolia met today with the Director General of the Mongolian National Cancer Center

The Ambassador  of Cuba to Mongolia, Jorge Ferrer, met today with the Director General of the National Cancer Center, PhD. ERDENEKHUU Nansalmaa and its Chief of Operations, PhD URANCHIMEG Tsegmed. They discussed cancer, treatments for this disease and the possibilities of cooperation between specialized institutions in both countries.

The diplomat mentioned pioneering effective treatments against cancer developed through genetic engineering and biotechnology by centers of BioCubaFarma, the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Group.

He cited the therapeutic vaccine CIMAvax-EGFhr and Vaxira, from the Center for Molecular Immunology (CIM) for advanced lung cancer, treated with chemotherapy or radiotherapy that is considered to be in a terminal state. These vaccines control tumor growth, with very few adverse reactions and increase the life expectancy and quality of life of patients.

CIMAvax-EGF was the first Cuban biopharmaceutical to obtain authorization from the US drug regulator for the Roswell Park Cancer Center in New York to conduct clinical trials in that country. Since 2018, that US center founded the first Cuban-American jount ventuyre with the Center for Molecular Immunology (CIM): Innovative Immunotherapy Alliance SA.

The Cuban diplomat referred to CIMAher® or Nimotuzumab, registered in more than 20 countries for head and neck, nasopharyngeal, esophageal, pancreatic and lung cancer, which is part of the list of essential medicines in China and India.

He also mentioned HeberFERON® for skin cancer, from the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), for lesions of any size and location, including high-risk areas of the face. HeberFERON® heals lesions and reduces tumor mass, causes a faster therapeutic response, extends the response to treatment for at least five years and reduces the frequency of new lesions eight times.

He also referred to Vidatox® 30CH or Escozul from LABIOFAM S.A, a complementary natural medicine treatment, marketed in Mongolia, whose active ingredient is the venom of a scorpion endemic to Cuba. Vidatox®, used in carcinomas of the breast, liver, brain, prostate and lung, has antitumor, anti-inflammatory and analgesic values; it relieves clinical symptoms and prolongs patient survival.

Both parties agreed to continue exchanging information and exploring potential areas of cooperation between the institutions for the benefit of patients in both countries.
