The ambassador of Cuba in Mongolia, Jorge Ferrer, signed yesterday the book of condolences opened at the Embassy of Türkiye in the memory of the victims of the devastating earthquake. He conveyed the Cuban deep condolences and solidarity with the goverment and the affected people in that country.
On Wednesday, the President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, signed at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Havana, the book of condolences opened to honor the victims, accompanied by some Deputy Foreign Ministers.
Meanwhile, a Cuban solidarity Henry Reeve medical brigade has traveled to Türkiye to help to assist the thousands of casualties caused by the natural disaster. Also another medical brigade of 27 Cuban doctors will soon leave for Syria country to help people of that country.
The Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade (HRIMB) of Cuba was founded in response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and since then has served in over 40 countries. It was awarded in 2017 the prestigious Dr Lee Jong-wook Memorial Prize for Public Health by the World Health Organization (WHO).
While US Government attempts to discredit Cuba’s internationalist healthcare program, labeling it as a form of human trafficking, in 2020 there was an International campaign that requested the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize nomination for Cuban doctors. The aim was to praise their international efforts during the coronavirus outbreak.
The Nobel Peace Prize campaign was endorsed by prominent intellectuals, artists, politicians, and citizens worldwide. It was endorsed by actors Danny Glover and Mark Ruffalo, writers Alice Walker, Noam Chomsky, and Nancy Morejon, filmmakers Oliver Stone and Petra Costa, musician Tom Morello, among numerous others.
