The Ambassador of Cuba to Mongolia, Jorge Ferrer, met with H.E. Mr. Shijir Ulziikhuu and Khosbayar Ganbat, members of the Parliament and the new Chair and Vice Chair, respectively, of the Mongolia-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group.
Also present were H.E. Mrs. Nominchimeg Odsuren, Parliamentarian; Mr. Davaadash Sambuu, Director of Foreign Affairs of the Parliament; and Mr. Anand Amgalan, Director General for the Americas at the Mongolian Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, which took place in a friendly atmosphere, they exchanged views on Cuba, bilateral and interparliamentary relations, and other topics of interest.
The Cuban Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the formation of the group, congratulated its leaders and members, and conveyed greetings from the Chair of the Cuba-Mongolia Parliamentary Group, Retired General Teté Puebla, Hero of the Republic of Cuba.
He also conveyed the Cuban parliamentary group's willingness to develop and strengthen ties. The Mongolian parliamentarian expressed his gratitude and reciprocated the greetings and their willingness to strengthen relations.
The diplomat updated them on the situation in Cuba, due to the intensification of the US economic blockade and its extraterritorial effects, as well as the increase in U.S. aggressivity.
Both recalled this year's celebration of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations; that Cuba was one of the first countries to establish relations with Mongolia and the presence of embassies in their capitals.
The President of the Mongolian Group expressed his gratitude for Cuba's scholarship program for the training of local professionals since 1963 and expressed his willingness to develop cooperation in education, sports, and agriculture.
