Victoria, 30th November._ At the invitation of Health Minister Peggy Vidot, Cuban Ambassador Martha Hernández Caneiro attended the commemoration of the centenary of the Seychelles Hospital, which opened on 30 November 1924.
The celebrations included a health fair and an exhibition on the hospital's trajectory over its 100 years, showcasing major milestones and advances in medical care.
The commemoration was presided over by President Wavel Ramkalawan, who in his speech said that this celebration was a tribute to all those who have worked at the institution from its inception to the present.
Ministers, members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of International Agencies, as well as a representation of health workers also attended.
The Seychelles hospital is the main health institution in the country, where since 1980, numerous Cuban doctors have provided services under the Health Agreement between the two countries.
Currently 20 Cuban doctors from 17 medical specialties, some of them unique in the country, are working at the hospital and are recognised by the health authorities and the people of Seychelles.
