Placencia, October 11, 2024.- Hosted by the Government of Belize, the Conference of International Partners of Strategic Alliances was held on October 10 and 11 under the theme "Unlocking climate finance and disaster risk finance for sustainable development".
The event was inaugurated by John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize, and among the main interventions were those of Francis Fonseca, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Education, Culture, Science and Technology, and Ambassador Amalia Mai, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.
The main objective of the conference is to strengthen dialogue with Belize's development partners and enhance collaboration on initiatives for sustainable growth, with climate finance and climate finance as a priority and for disaster risks.
During her speech, Ambassador Amalia Mai highlighted Cuba's traditional support in the training of human resources, the permanence of collaboration in the field of health for 34 years, based on the public health of the Belizean people and the important work carried out by the Henry Reeve brigade during the COVID-19 pandemic in the different regions of the country in very complex situations.
The event also includes panel discussions on topics such as unconventional climate finance strategies, leveraging international climate finance, building national capacities to access funds, and fostering opportunities for collaborative partnerships.
Present were ministers of state, directors-general, the diplomatic corps accredited in the country and the concurrent ambassadors, officials of international organizations, specialists and technicians from different ministries linked to the with the topics discussed. (EmbacubaBelize).
