Belize City, January 15, 2025.- The national tribute for the "Day of George Price", Father of Independence, was held at his birthplace in Belize City.
The emotional remembrance was presided over by Governor General Dame Froyla Tzalam, Prime Minister John Briceño and Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca.
The speakers during their presentations, recalled outstanding passages of the life of the distinguished statesman, who left a deep legacy of patriotism and love for the Belizean people.
Present were family members, senators, ministers, the diplomatic and consular corps and the people in general.
The occasion was propitious for the planting of new varieties of trees in the botanical garden attached to the birthplace.
This day, January 15, coincides with the birth of the distinguished patriot and was instituted in 2021 to highlight the contributions and contribution of George Price in the achievement of Belize's independence from colonialismof British colonialism in 1981.
In April 2005, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz conferred the José Martí Order on George Price in an official ceremony in the Republic of Cuba. (EmbacubaBelize)
