Canberra, 14 February 2024. The Cuban Ambassador to Australia, Tanieris Dieguez, paid an official visit to the authorities of the Government of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and held a meeting with Premier Andrew Barr.
The meeting was propitious to discuss the 35th Anniversary of Bilateral Relations between Cuba and Australia, as well as the possibilities of expanding the bilateral relationship in the educational and scientific sectors. The diplomat thanked the authorities of Canberra for the support of her administration and reaffirmed her willingness to continue expanding cooperation ties.
They also discussed different activities sponsored by the ACT authorities, in particular the Multicultural Festival that will take place in the coming days, where Cuba as well as the countries of the region will have their space to show their cultural traditions.
For his part, the Chief Minister agreed on the potential for expanding the bilateral relationship and conveyed his good wishes on the 35th Anniversary of Bilateral Relations.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Brendan Smyth, the ACT Government's Commissioner for International Relations.
