Nicosia, October 27, 2022. - The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources of the Parliament of Cyprus, Deputy Gavriel Yiannakis received on October 27, 2022, at the headquarters of the legislative body, the Ambassador of Cuba in the country, Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero.
The Cuban diplomat recalled the previous meeting they had during his visit to Deryneia, district of Famagusta where Yiannakis is a representative. In a fraternal meeting they discussed different points of interest.
The Cuban Ambassador discussed the impact of the US blockade and its effects on agriculture and the environment. He took advantage of the occasion to express his gratitude for the expressions of solidarity received by Cuba from Cyprus, particularly the support of his country in the United Nations in favor of the resolution presented annually by the Caribbean island with the title "Necessity of putting an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba" and which will be presented again for the 30th time, as announced by the Cuban Foreign Minister on November 2 and 3.
Both parties exchanged extensively on the functioning of the Agriculture Committees of both countries and the common challenges they face as small island countries.
The Cuban Ambassador also referred to "Tarea Vida", the Cuban State's plan for the preservation of the environment.
In the friendly meeting, both parties stressed the importance of working to strengthen existing ties at the parliamentary level, as well as cooperation in areas of mutual interest (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
