May 10, 2023, Nicosia - On the morning of May 10, Cuban Ambassador Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero received the courtesy visit of the new Charge d'Affaires of the Syrian Arab Republic in Cyprus, Ambassador Mr. Ammar Awad.
During the fraternal meeting, the Ambassador welcomed Mr. Awad to Cyprus and they exchanged on the rights of the peoples to be free and sovereign, as well as the common challenges faced by Cuba with the unjust and inhumane US blockade and also Syria with the blockade and the successive armed attacks.
The Cuban Ambassador conveyed that his country welcomed the decision of the League of Arab States to readmit the Syrian Arab Republic to the organization.
The two diplomats exchanged on possible future cooperation and issues on the international agenda (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
