Victoria, February 7._ The Cuban Ambassador in Seychelles, Martha Hernández Caneiro, participated in the reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Victoria, on the occasion of the Spring Festival and in a welcoming reception to the new ambassador of the Asian giant in Seychelles, H.E. Lin Nan.
To celebrate the event, the activity was attended by Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan and Vice President Ahmed Afif, ministers, members of the National Assembly, as well as members of the diplomatic corps and the Chinese community in the country.
In her address, Ambassador Nan noted that the spring festival has been listed as a United Nations official holiday. Furthermore, she cited that in Chinese culture, dragon symbolises auspiciousness, strength and success.
On the occasion of this important holiday, the Cuban Ambassador conveyed on behalf of Cuba to her Chinese counterpart, best wishes for health, prosperity, well-being and much success to the Chinese people and government in the Lunar New Year.
During her career as a diplomat, Ambassador Lin Nan was part of the Chinese Embassy in Havana for three years. In this regard, she remembered with great affection those years in our country and ratified the strong ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation that unite our two nations.
During the weekend, members of the Cuban Embassy also participated in the 11th Seychelles-Cuba Bazaar, organised annually by the China-Seychelles Association, which is part of the festivities for the Lunar New Year.
