Victoria, 10 december._ Cuba's ambassador to Seychelles, Martha Hernández Caneiro, received on Tuesday on a courtesy visit, the Japanese ambassador-designate to the African nation, SAKUTA Makoto.
In the pleasant meeting, both parties highlighted the excellent diplomatic relations between the two nations, based on friendship, cooperation and mutual respect.
The Cuban diplomat explained to her Japanese counterpart the difficult economic circumstances Cuba is going through, as a result of the hostile intensification of the economic asphyxiation measures of the U.S. government. In this regard, she acknowledged the permanent support of her country to the Cuban resolution against the blockade in the UNGA.
On the other hand, the ambassador expressed her gratitude on behalf of the Cuban people and government for the recent humanitarian aid sending to the island, in response to the damage caused by Hurricane Rafael, as another gesture of the friendship and solidarity between the two countries.
Tomás Méndez Parra, Minister Counselor of the Cuban Embassy also participated for the Cuban side and ONO Tomoyuki, Counselor for the Japanese side.
At the end of the pleasant meeting, we wish much success to the first resident Ambassador of Japan in Seychelles, who has just begun his mission.
