Cuban Ambassador Visits the Modern Port of Kingstown and Holds Meeting with its CEO

Kingstown, March 30, 2026 — The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez Etcheverry, paid a visit to the Modern Port of Kingstown, where he was warmly received by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Carlos James.

During the tour of the facilities, the Ambassador was able to gain first-hand insight into the port’s operations, as well as the progress made in infrastructure and logistical services that position it as a strategic hub for the country’s trade and economic development.

As part of the meeting, both parties held a fruitful exchange on opportunities for bilateral cooperation, with special emphasis on the potential recruitment of Cuban human resources in various areas of the port and logistics sector. The well-known qualifications, discipline, and experience of Cuban professionals were highlighted, which could significantly contribute to strengthening the port’s operational capacities.

Ambassador Rodríguez Etcheverry reiterated Cuba’s willingness to continue expanding cooperation ties with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in sectors of mutual interest, for the benefit of both peoples.

Meanwhile, Mr. James positively assessed the exchange and expressed his interest in exploring concrete avenues to bring these collaboration opportunities to fruition.

The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and promote joint initiatives that foster economic and social development (Embassy of Cuba in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines/Cubaminrex).
