The American group BYU Vocal Point and the Camerata Vocale Sine Nomine, from Cuba, will combine their talents this Tuesday to give life to a vocal concert program that will delight the public in Havana.
The event will take place at the Teatro América at 7:30 p.m. local time, reported the National Concert Music Center, which highlighted the inclusion of the show in the project developed by the institution to bring this type of sound closer to all audiences in our country. .
The BYU Vocal Point male group stands out for its a cappella shows starring members at Brigham Young University, who have maintained the tradition of this genre since its birth in 1991 by students Bob Ahlander and Dave Boyce.
Under the direction of Emmy Award winner and former member McKay Crockett, the ensemble from the North American nation will be joined on stage by their Cuban counterparts, whose work is marked by the use of countertenor (soprano and alto), tenor and bass voices. , in the interpretation of music originally written for this type of format.
The repertoire of the Cuban lineup covers pieces from the beginnings of polyphony to the present day and under the leadership of teacher Leonor Suárez Dulzaides it has garnered awards such as the Cubadisco 2009 award in the Choral Music category.
Likewise, it stimulates collaboration between groups of its type from Cuba and other latitudes, while defending the development of choral music on the island in the international arena, with its presence in prestigious festivals and tours.
