Johannesburg, October 24, 2025.- As part of Cuban Culture Day festivities, members of the Cuban Embassy in Pretoria attended the premiere of the show “Private Presley: The Ballet,” organized and performed by the South African company Mzansi Ballet, which uses the Cuban method of teaching ballet and includes Cuban dancers in its cast.
During the opening ceremony, the company's director, Dirk Badenhorst, praised the excellence of the Cuban School of Ballet, stating that it "has produced the best dancers and played a pivotal role in the development of Mzansi Ballet". He also acknowledged that this connection is one of the most beautiful aspects of the bilateral relationship between Cuba and South Africa.
The show's cast includes Cuban dancers and teachers from the island who use the Cuban methodology to train the rest of the company. Badenhorst described this methodology as “one of the best in the world”.
