The Santa Clara Bombarderos team, which will represent Cuba in the Little League Baseball World Series, Williamsport, Pennsylvania was flagged off today in this city in the center of the island.
In the ceremony, held at the Ernesto Che Guevara memorial, which holds the challenges of the Argentine-Cuban commander, player Alejandro Vazquez, read the commitment of the athletes who will participate in the event in the United States from August 14 to 25.
"We commit ourselves to compete with decorum, combativeness and loyalty, involving the internal regulations inside and outside the competitive scenario, with discipline as the fundamental pillar to achieve the objectives, avoiding discouragement and lack of enthusiasm" expressed the team captain, pitcher and second baseman.
"Representing our province of Villa Clara and our municipality of Santa Clara, we will battle with unity, dignity and discipline to reach a decent place and that the effort made becomes the fairest aspiration". he said.
The athletes also signed the code of ethics.
Laura Beatriz García, president of the José Martí Pioneers Organization (OPJM) in the province, emphasized that the triumphs depend on the perseverance and adherence to the teachings of their teachers and coaches and that the team has the makings of champions.
"We are sure that they will know how to represent our country and that in this new battle they will give their all and will be up to the demands of this event and will fight with professionalism," he said.
Reinaldo Pérez Pardo, national commissioner and president of the Cuban baseball federation, participated in the activity.
