Havana, March 13, 2025. On the occasion of the St. Patrick's Day festivities, fourth-grade Cuban children from the Camilo Cienfuegos elementary school in Old Havana participated in a workshop called "The Green Erin." With the goal of continuing to promote the rich culture of Ireland, the workshop addressed its history and the distinctive elements that distinguish it, including its roots, national symbols, cuisine, music, and dance, as well as other aspects of its beautiful mythology, linked to its Celtic roots.
Organized by the Center for the Interpretation of Cuba-Europe Cultural Relations, during the workshop, the children enjoyed games and educational activities aimed at energizing their learning about the neighboring country, also using technological media such as audiovisuals, slides, and tablets.
As in a growing number of countries, it has also become a tradition in Cuba to celebrate March 17th, Irish National Day. The festivities commemorate the death of Saint Patrick of Ireland, patron saint of the entire island.
