Cuban cinema coming to London.

London, 5 March 2024- Screen Cuba: Films to Change the World is the name of the film festival coming to the British capital from 9 to 22 March.

During fourteen days, London will host a fest of Cuban cinema. The programme includes an exceptional selection of classic films like The Death of a Bureaucrat, NOW!, One Way or Another and Strawberry and Chocolate; as well as more recent films like The Life of Jose Marti: The Eye of the Canary, Tales of One More Day, and the animated feature film Supergal. The programme will be complemented by talks and Q&A sessions with Gladys González Martínez, Vice-President of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) and Tania Delgado Fernández, Director of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema.

The film event is being organised by Screen Cuba, a project of Music Fund for Cuba UK charity and Cuba Solidarity Campaign, in collaboration with Cuba’s film institute ICAIC and the support of the Cuban Embassy in the UK.It is also supported by the British National Education Union (NEU) and Performing Arts and Entertainment Union (Equity), as well as individual donors.

Among its objectives, the Festival also aims to raise funds for ongoing ICAIC projects, as well as the restoration of classic films in Havana archives.
