Belmopan, October 10, 2024.- The collectives that make up the Cuban state mission in Belize began the Day for Cuban Culture, which on this occasion is dedicated to honoring the outstanding intellectual Alejo Carpentier and art instructors.
The day began by remembering the date of October 10, 1868, a historical event that marked the beginning of the struggles for the independence of our country, led by Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, the Father of the Nation, who in his sugar mill La Demajagua, freed his slaves and summoned them to begin the struggle against the Spanish colonial yoke.
In the same way, the sublime moment of the singing for the first time of La Bayamesa was highlighted, which would eventually become the National Anthem, which as a combat anthem, has accompanied us during these 156 years.
The Cuban film El Mayor, by director Rigoberto López Pego, was screened, which highlights the figure of distinguished patriot Ignacio Agramonte, prominent politician and military man during the Ten Years' War.
Love, patriotism and the conviction to maintain independence and national sovereignty prevailed in this celebration, as a permanent tribute to the heroes and martyrs of the Homeland. (EmbacubaBelize).
