Cuban culture dialogue with students from the University of Pretoria

Pretoria, 9 September 2026.—The Cuban Embassy in South Africa held an enriching exchange with students from the University of Pretoria, focusing on the culture, history and traditions of the Caribbean nation.

During the meeting, participants discussed Cuban cultural identity, the island’s historical development and the deep ties that bind Cuba to Africa and, in particular, to South Africa. The event also served as a platform to promote greater understanding of Cuba in South Africa, as well as to stimulate interest among younger generations in cooperation between the peoples of the Global South.

The exchange with the students forms part of the Embassy’s efforts to strengthen ties with South African academic institutions and to foster initiatives for dialogue, research and collaboration in the fields of education, culture and vocational training.

The Cuban Embassy thanks the students and the University of Pretoria for their willingness to facilitate this exchange, and reiterates its commitment to continuing to promote activities that contribute to a better understanding of Cuba and to the strengthening of the historic bilateral ties between the two countries.
