Pretoria, March 27, 2023.- The Cuban deputy minister of Foreign Affairs, Elio Rodríguez Perdomo, was received by the general secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP), Solly Mapaila. Luis Alberto Amorós, director for Sub-Saharan Africa of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, the Cuban Ambassador to South Africa, Enrique Orta González and other SACP officials also participated in the meeting.
The excellent level of partisan relations was highlighted at the meeting and the strength of solidarity ties between Cuba and South Africa was recognized. Solly Mapaila reaffirmed the SACP support for the Cuban Revolution and condemned keeping the island on the unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
For his part, the Cuban diplomat showed deep appreciation to the general secretary for the unrestricted support of the South African communists in favor of lifting the blockade against our country and the several expressions of solidarity promoted from the SACP.
