Nassau, Aug 16 (Prensa Latina) The First Regional Meeting of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) will serve as a platform to learn about the challenges and needs of developing island states, a Cuban official said today.
From her Twitter account, Deputy Foreign Minister Anayansi Rodriguez also described this conclave as an important space for exchange.
Rodriguez is part of the Cuban delegation, headed by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, attending the Caricom meeting in the Bahamas.
On this first day, mitigation was discussed, with emphasis on energy security and sustainability and coal markets, as well as adaptation to climate change impacts, the Cuban Presidency informed via Twitter.
The Prime Minister of Bahamas, Philip Davis, called for the search for common positions among all Caribbean countries. “Development requires collective action. Together we are stronger,” he said.
