Canberra, 14 June 2026. As part of the activities marking the launch of the fifth edition of the “From Australia to Cuba with Love 2026” campaign, members of the Canberra branch of the Australian Cuban Friendship Society (ACFS), together with officials from the Embassy of Cuba in Australia, carried out a bike ride this morning from the Cuban diplomatic mission to the Australian Parliament.
The initiative, organised by the ACFS as the inaugural activity of the campaign in Canberra, brought together solidarity participants who, through this symbolic action, reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the bonds of friendship between the peoples of both nations. The occasion also highlighted the importance of this campaign in its fifth anniversary, a sustained expression of support for Cuba that demonstrates the Island is not alone and continues to count on the solidarity of friends in Australia.
The From Australia to Cuba with Love campaign aims to raise awareness within Australian society about the Cuban reality, denounce the impact of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States, and promote concrete acts of solidarity, including fundraising initiatives to support community projects in Cuba. Through sporting, cultural, and social activities carried out over an eight‑week period, the campaign seeks to engage individuals and groups across the country, fostering human exchange and a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by the Caribbean nation. This year, the campaign also takes on special significance as it is dedicated to the centenary of Fidel Castro Ruz, highlighting the enduring relevance of his ideas on solidarity, social justice, and cooperation among peoples.
The Embassy of Cuba in Australia reiterated its willingness to continue working closely with the ACFS and with all organisations and individuals who support this campaign, which will run until August with various activities taking place nationwide.
