The staff of the Cuban Embassy in Cyprus took part in the celebration of International Workers' Day in Nicosia's Freedom Square, together with several hundred friends, convened by the Cyprus Federation of Workers (PEO) and the Progressive Party of the Working People (AKEL).
As part of the celebration, members of AKEL, the Cypriot-Cuban Friendship Association, the various Cypriot trade unions and the Embassy collective took part in the May Day celebrations, chaired by Sotiroula Charlamos, Secretary of PEO and Stefanos Stefanou, Secretary General of AKEL.
During the event, Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero, Cuban Ambassador exchanged with some of the members of the Solidarity Movement, Cypriot deputies and directors of PEO about the importance for our country of the support they give us in the struggle for the total elimination of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States and the return of the illegally occupied territory in Guantanamo.
The Cuban Ambassador bid farewell to the Secretary General of AKEL, Stefanous Stefanou, who will travel to Cuba on an official visit (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Cyprus).
