Cuban Embassy Delegation in Washington Carries Out Productive Working Visit to Memphis, Tennessee

The Second Chief of Mission of the Cuban Embassy in the United States, Ambassador Tanieris Diéguez, accompanied by Second Secretary Gabriela Castillo, carried out a working visit to the city of Memphis, Tennessee, with the aim of strengthening ties with various sectors of American society and promoting exchange on topics of mutual interest.

During their stay, the Cuban diplomats held meetings with representatives of organizations that support solidarity with Cuba, who reiterated their commitment to strengthening bonds of friendship between both peoples and expressed their rejection of the unilateral coercive measures imposed against the island.

The delegation also met with leaders of religious institutions in the city, in an atmosphere of respect and fraternity, addressing topics related to peace, social justice, and cooperation among communities.

As part of the program, Ambassador Diéguez and Second Secretary Castillo met with members of the Cuban-descendant community residing in Memphis, who shared their experiences, family histories, and interest in maintaining their cultural and emotional ties with Cuba.

Likewise, the representatives of the Embassy were received by local government authorities, with whom they discussed opportunities to expand cultural and educational exchanges and mutual benefit between Cuba and the city of Memphis.

The visit also included meetings with academic institutions, executives, and specialists from highly regarded cultural and civil rights organizations, where they exchanged views on the importance of preserving historical memory, promoting inclusion, and defending human dignity as essential values for peaceful coexistence among peoples.

The meetings held during this visit demonstrated the existing interest in continuing to develop spaces for dialogue and cooperation, as well as recognition of the importance of strengthening bridges of understanding between Cuba and the United States.
