Cuban Embassy hosts poetry contest by U.S. artists.

With more than a hundred participants, the Cuban Embassy in Washington, D.C., hosted the finals of the annual BusBoy and Poets Poetry Contest.

The event, which was attended by members of the U.S. arts and culture, was an opportunity to pay tribute to Cuba's National Hero, José Martí, on the occasion of the 170th anniversary of his birth on January 28.

The event was also marked by the exchange between the young poets and the members of the Cuban Mission in Washington D.C. The participants, through their poems, expressed the difficulties and challenges faced in their daily lives by the Afro-descendant communities in the United States.

At the same time, those present emphasized their rejection of the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for more than six decades.
