Cuban Embassy in South Africa pays tribute to José Martí

Pretoria, January 28, 2025 - The Cuban Embassy in South Africa, together with the heads of the cooperation brigades working in the country, paid a heartfelt tribute to the most universal of Cubans, the National Apostle, José Martí, on the 172nd anniversary of his birth.

In his speech, the Cuban Military Attaché to South Africa, Senior Colonel Josué Manuel Ortega, referred to several of Martí's writings, which, although written two centuries ago, are still relevant and important today in the defence of the homeland.

Besides, the poem "Tribute to Martí on his 172nd birthday", by Lázaro Martínez, head of the Water Resources Brigade, was heard in the voice of Orlando Pereira, and the song ‘Homage to Martí’ by Polo Montañez, was interpreted by Julio Fidel Sierra Almaguer.

With a bouquet of white roses and with the commitment to continue working for the Homeland and the Revolution, part of the Cuban state mission in South Africa paid tribute to José Martí on his birthday.
