Cuban Embassy in the U.S. Celebrates UJC and OPJM Anniversaries

Washington, D.C. – The staff of the Cuban Embassy in the United States today commemorated the 64th anniversary of the Union of Young Communists (UJC) and the 65th anniversary of the José Martí Pioneer Organization (OPJM) in an event presided over by the Head of Mission, Ambassador Lianys Torres.

The activity included the reading of a poem written by Jonathan Mackenzie, performed by the author himself alongside young Melisa. This was followed by a message from the First Secretary of the UJC, Meyvis Estévez, who highlighted the commitment and patriotic values of the new generations.

Next, young UJC member Gretel Gómez delivered the main address of the event, emphasizing the active role of youth in continuing the work of the Revolution.

The ceremony concluded with a performance of the song Rostros de Pioneros by the mission’s youth and children, whose voices came together in an emotional message: in Cuba, “the future is secure.”
