Cuban experts convene a digital forum on alleged acoustic attacks

The Committee of Cuban Expert that has studied the alleged acoustic attacks on US diplomats in Havana, invites you to participate in an online forum entitled: Scientific Debate on the alleged acoustic attacks that occurred in Havana, to be held on Wednesday November 15, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cuba’s time. This online forum will take place on the Web site Red Cubana de la Ciencia, and will resume the following day November 16, as from 10 a.m.

Online Discussion Site may be access at (URL): supuestosataques.redciencia.cu

This forum’s main objective is to exchange information and opinions with the international scientific community and other interested participants.

For your background information, the US government has stated that American diplomats in Havana have suffered symptoms provoked by sonic attacks. These diplomats have reported to have heard noises in their residences and experienced the following “symptoms”: nausea, headaches, balance disorders, hearing loss, facial and abdominal pain, memory disorders and brain damage. For that reason, the debate will focus on the exchange around the following questions:

- Can the symptoms described be the consequence of sonic agents?
- Could other diseases have provoked such symptoms?
- Is there a possibility of psycosocial-related causes?

The Committee of Cuban Experts has not even have access to the medical tests conducted on those “affected”. Only a medical summary was received, which lacked basic needed information. Audio samples facilitated by the US authorities were analyzed. Despite these limitations, a thorough probe took place.

The Committee of Cuban Experts includes the following fields of expertise: physics, telecommunication engineering, internal medicine, neurology, neurophysiology, otolaryngology, audiology, epidemiology, environmental health, entomology, psychology and sociology.

Besides the online debate, you will be able to access, through the same webpage: supuestosataques.redciencia.cu/, videos and articles submitted for your consideration by the Committee of Cuban Experts.
