Cuban film ¨Innocence¨ was presented in Australia

Canberra, August 15, 2022 - The 17th edition of the Latin American Film Festival of Australia presented the Cuban film "Innocence", by director Alejandro Gil, which was very well received by the audience who were able to delve into the tragic events that shook Havana on November 27, 1871.  

The Festival is organized by the Latin American and Caribbean embassies accredited in Canberra. It has the support of the Film Group of the Australian National University (ANU) and the Council on Australia-Latin America Relations (COALAR), an ascribed entity to the Australian Foreign Ministry. This important cultural event will also tour other cities in the country besides Canberra.

The presentation of the film was in charge of the Cuban ambassador to Australia, Ariel Lorenzo Rodríguez, who first thanked the ICAIC and the filmmaker Alejandro Gil for the support and facilities that allowed bringing this outstanding production to Australia. Also, after offering a brief synopsis of the film and the awards it has won, the Cuban diplomat highlighted its cinematographic quality and the historical significance for Cuba of the sensitive event it narrates.

The screening of the film was attended by members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Canberra, Cuban residents, friends of solidarity, staff of the Australian Foreign Ministry, as well as the Cuban Embassy staff.
