The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, continued his work program in New York, participating in the Summit of the Future that takes place at the headquarters of the United Nations. In addition, he took part today in the Ministerial Meeting of the NAM Coordinating Bureau, under the central theme: “Protection of the civilian population in armed conflicts: solidarity with the Palestinian people”.
The Cuban Foreign Minister reiterated Cuba's unwavering solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people, and insisted on the demand for a permanent and immediate ceasefire in the illegally occupied Palestinian territories, in order to put an end to the aggression committed with impunity by Israel, with the complicity of the United States government.
As part of the work program developed by Rodríguez Parrilla in the framework of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, he held talks with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk. The Cuban Foreign Minister expressed his willingness to continue strengthening cooperation ties with the United Nations human rights mechanisms on the basis of respectful and constructive dialogue.
The Cuban Foreign Minister also met with his counterparts from Venezuela, Singapore and Kenya. In all cases, they exchanged on issues of common interest in the bilateral and multilateral order. The good state of relations was noted. Rodríguez Parrilla thanked these countries for their support against the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba.
At the same time, Rodríguez Parrilla completed a bilateral program in the United States, as part of which he held a meeting with members of the Afro-American Chamber of Commerce and visited the Schomburg Center for Research on Black Culture, located in the Harlem neighborhood. Cuba has historical ties with the Afro-American community and with the peoples of the African continent, which have been strengthened through education, culture and the practice of solidarity.
