Cuban Foreign Minister meets with US Members of Congress

On Thursday, November 2, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla met with a dozen of senators and members of the US House of Representatives, with whom he exchanged on the state of the current relationship between Cuba and the U.S., which have been characterized by a significant setback, as he stated.

 

During the meeting held at the Dirksen Senate Building, the Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez reiterated that Cuba has no responsibility whatsoever with the alleged incidents that have affected the health of U.S. diplomats and their family members in Havana; and there is no evidence that confirms the occurrence of any attack or deliberate act against the U.S. diplomatic staff in Cuba. Once more, he stated the willingness of our country to continue the dialogue and cooperation to find the truth on this matter and urged the U.S. government not to continue politicizing this issue.

 

The Members of Congress attending the meeting expressed their willingness to continue working in favor of the bilateral relations with Cuba and a greater clarification of this situation. Likewise, they reaffirmed the importance of the dialogue and cooperation between the two nations as ways to advance in the solution of this issue.

 

Other members of the Cuban delegation attending the meeting included Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs General Director for U.S. Affairs, Bárbara Elena Montalvo Chief of Staff to the Cuban Foreign Minister and José Ramón Cabañas Rodriguez, Cuban Ambassador to the United States.
