Havana, July 15th, 2021.- The Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, exchanged virtually with leaders, parliamentarians and activists from Latin America, to whom he presented information on the political-media operation originating in the States United against the island.
The website of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Cubaminrex, reports that in the exchange held this Wednesday Rodríguez Parrilla emphasized that there has been no social outbreak in the country, and that the people did not join in the call for a general strike.
The Cuban diplomat thanked the many expressions of support for the largest of the Antilles, accompanied by rejection of the maneuvers against stability in the country and the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.
Cubaminrex reports that in the virtual exchange, different former Latin American presidents and leaders ratified their support for Cuba.
Among them, the former Bolivian president Evo Morales, who considered what happened this Sunday as another triumph for Cuba; He recalled that despite the US blockade, the Caribbean country is the most supportive in the world, and appreciated that anyone else would have surrendered to these coercive measures from the Washington government.
Former Colombian president Ernesto Samper described what happened in this Antillean nation as a digital intervention, and recalled that Colombia, with almost forty consecutive days of national strike, had more than 70 deaths and 400 missing persons.
Samper assured that right-wing actors asked that the protagonists of the strike in Colombia be repressed and that the protests end; however, those same actors are now asking that he not confront violent protesters in Cuba.
The Mexican Undersecretary of Foreign Relations, Maximiliano Reyes, reiterated Mexico's support for Cuba and recalled the communications that Mexican and Cuban officials have had in recent days.
In the same way, former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff did, who conveyed a message of support to the island and condemned the blockade against the Cuban people.
The executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, Alicia Bárcenas, detailed the impact of the North American blockade on the Cuban economy, combined with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and ratified her position of rejection of intervention in Cuba from abroad.
The former foreign minister and current Bolivian ambassador to the United Nations, Diego Pary, conveyed Bolivia's support to Cuba; while Fernando Lugo, former president of Paraguay, highlighted the statement denouncing the anti-Cuban maneuver that his organization Frente Guasú carried out in recent days.
Cubaminrex highlights that Argentine deputy Eduardo Valdés, president of the International Relations Commission of the Chamber of that country, affirmed that his government and the Frente de Todos support Cuba.
On his side, Argentine deputy Carlos Heller recalled Argentina's historical relations with Cuba and its unwavering commitment to defending the sovereignty of the largest of the Antilles.
