In the afternoon of January 5, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, met with Jeff Flake, the Republican Senator for the State of Arizona.
The US Senator, who has travelled to Cuba on several occasions, is part of a growing bipartisan group of members of Congress who lead various legislative proposals to promote bilateral rapprochement and a better relationship between Cuba and the United States. In particular, Senator Flake has been the main promoter of a bill that proposes the lifting of the travel restrictions to Cuba for US citizens and that has the support of other 54 senators, which represents more than half the members of the Senate.
Also present in the meeting with the Minister were the General Director for US Affairs in the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Josefina Vidal Ferreiro; the Deputy Director Johana Tablada de la Torre and Ambassador Carlos Fernández de Cossío.
