The Cuban Medical Brigade in Swaziland, made up by 21 collaborators, held its III Scientific Conference in the National Hospital of Mbabane, with the participation of all its members.
Thirteen studies were presented based on the experience gained through years of solidarity providing health services in the Kingdom of Swaziland, which included: the most frequent congenital malformations seen in neonatology, the clinical characterization of abortion in the country, as well as presentations on Tuberculosis, AIDS, Pneumocystis Jirovenci, Malaria, Kapossiy's sarcoma and soft tissue tumors.
As these are the most frequent pathologies, the work presented by Graduate in Cytohistopathology Dayara Acosta Maragoto, on the relations of the Human Genome, the Immunohistochemistry and the challenges of contemporary medicine, had great impact.
The works were evaluated by an Academic Committee and defended before a Scientific Tribunal. Due to its high quality, the publication of scientific research presented in different specialized sites was recommended.
The program included a Magisterial Conference on the diagnosis of anemia in childhood, by 2nd Degree Specialist of Pediatrics and Assistant Professor of Las Tunas Medical Sciences University, Dr. Teresa Rodríguez Torres.
The event also featured a lecture by the experienced Dr. Pablo Sebastián Silveira Hernández, on chronic diseases management, silent killer of hundreds of Swazis, year after year.
The Event confirmed the importance of scientific research in the Cuban Health Cooperation. On the other hand, it proved its usefulness as an ideal space for the improvement and teaching of our medical personnel.
Other ELAM members, as well as the Hospital staff, attended the event.
