Cuban Medical Brigade in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines dedicates its Scientific Day to the Centenary of Fidel Castro’s Birth.

Kingstown, June 1, 2026. — The Cuban Medical Brigade in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines held its 2026 Scientific Conference on Saturday, May 30, providing a forum for academic and professional exchange. This year's event was dedicated to the centenary of the birth of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, the principal architect of Cuba's free and universal public healthcare system.

The conference brought together members of the brigade from various medical specialties, who presented a total of ten scientific papers covering different areas of healthcare. The research addressed topics of relevance to medical practice, disease prevention, specialized care, and the strengthening of healthcare services, demonstrating the commitment of Cuban professionals to excellence and the continuous updating of their knowledge.

The Head of the Cuban Medical Brigade, Dr. Ulises Castillo Sanz, acknowledged the high quality of the presentations and highlighted the scientific rigor, practical value, and contribution of the papers to the improvement of the medical services provided by Cuban healthcare professionals to the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

For his part, the Ambassador of Cuba to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez Etcheverry, congratulated all collaborators who participated directly and indirectly in the organization and successful implementation of the Scientific Conference. He also underscored the importance of such initiatives in promoting research, the exchange of experiences, and professional development, while encouraging the continuation of this essential exercise on an annual basis.
