Punta Gorda, April 27, 2024.- In the southern region of Belize, where the Cuban medical brigades provide their services, Manuel "Piti" Fajardo and Antonio Maceo concluded the scientific conferences at this level.
This important event was dedicated to honoring the 63rd anniversary of the Playa Girón Victory and International Workers' Day.
A keynote conference was offered and 8 works from different specialties were presented, all linked to the most frequent conditions that occur in this rural region of the country.
The high scientific, technical and professional rigor characterized each of the presentations, which contribute to a higher quality of services provided to the population in the different health areas.
A deep, lively and thorough exchange between the participants characterized the analysis of the work, which confirmed the preparation and level of those present.
The best works selected by the jury received recognition diplomas and gifts.
The Cuban ambassador, María Caridad Balaguer Labrada, in her conclusions, highlighted the scientific level of the works, their quality, thematic novelty and the preparation demonstrated by the speakers and co-authors, which makes it possible to generalize the best experiences and raise the quality of the health services provided by our collaborators together with Belizean personnel.
Present were Dr. Jorge Sajia, deputy health director of the southern region, Dr. Perlita Aldana, president of the BMDA, consul Gustavo Aguinaga Linares, Dr. María del Carmen Lozada Concepción, national coordinator of the BMC, Adalberto Lluch, president of the BMC scientific committee, Cuban collaborators, Belizean health personnel and doctors Esteban Cascaret and Maria Luz Legra, Cubans residing in Belize.
With the completion of these events at the regional level, the conditions are prepared for the holding on May 18 of the National Scientific Day of the BMC, dedicated to honoring the 129th anniversary of the fall in combat of our National Hero José Martí.
Once again, the event materialized the visionary postulate of the Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz when he expressed that the future of our country would be men of science and thought. (EmbacubaBelize).
