Cuban medical brigades from the western region of Belize carry out a scientific day.

Belmopan, March 15, 2025.- Dedicated to honor the 147th anniversary of the Baragua Protest, an event led by Lieutenant General Antonio Maceo, the Cuban medical brigades Juan Gualberto Gómez and Camilo Cienfuegos developed their regional scientific day.

A keynote lecture on Hypertensive Crisis was given by Dr. Ramon Matus, a graduate of ELAM and director of the western hospital, and 6 papers were presented, which are linked to frequent pathologies in this region of the country.

The activity was chaired by Ambassador María Caridad Balaguer Labrada, Consul Gustavo Aguinaga Linares, Dr. Perlita Aldana, President of the Medical and Dental Association of Belize, Dr. Nilda Corría López, National Coordinator of the BMC and Belizean health authorities.

The Cuban health collaborators participate together with their Belizean counterparts, who present co-authored works.

A mention and two special prizes were awarded.

Once again, Cuban science is put at the service of public health care for the population of this sister Central American country, an example of the humanist and solidarity principle of the Cuban Revolution. The Cuban medical brigade has been serving in Belize for 34 years. (EmbacubaBelize).
