Cubans, Seychellois and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Seychelles accompanied the Cuban Mission at the commemoration of the 69th Anniversary of the Assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks, held at the Cuban Embassy in Victoria.
In her speech, the Cuban ambassador highlighted the unwavering spirit of struggle and victory of the Generation, who under the leadership of Fidel Castro, led the 26th of July and marked the way to achieve our definitive independence with the triumph of the Revolution on January 1st., 1959.
The Cuban diplomat also highlighted the challenges we have faced for more than six decades in the face of the persistence of the U.S. government to impose us the hostile blockade policy. In this regard, she thanked the friends of Cuba in Seychelles for their solidarity and remarked the firm decision of the Cuban people to continue defending their project of integration, democracy, peace, justice, prosperity for all and hope.
The occasion was propitious to bid farewell to Dr. Aymara Rivero Leicea, who completes her mission as Head of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Seychelles; and to present a recognition from the Cuban Ministry of Public Health to the Brigade, for maintaining its commitment to save lives and ensure the health of the people, especially during the period of confrontation with Covid-19.
