Cuban MP exchanges with the Solidarity Movement in Australia

Brisbane, 17 April 2025. Congresswoman Yamila González Ferrer, met today with members of the Cuban solidarity movement in Australia. During the meeting, she provided information on the process of approval and implementation of the Family Code in Cuba as well as on the National Programme for the Advancement of Women and the Comprehensive Strategy against Gender Violence.

During the emotional meeting, the parliamentarian provided those present with information on the progress made in the protection of women's rights in Cuba, as well as identifying the challenges that still exist in these areas.

One of the issues discussed was the negative impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed against Cuba on the development of Cuban women and in all areas of the country's social life.

Those present exchanged with interest and appreciated the information, while reaffirming their solidarity with our people and in particular with Cuban women.

The Cuban Ambassador to Australia thanked the ACFS in Brisbane for their support in organising the meeting and for the expressions of affection and solidarity with our country.
